What You Should Know:

The League's Annual Dinner Meeting (Also called the Annual Meeting, or Annual Dinner) is kind of like our own Convention. For instance, if we were a corporation this would be our big shareholder's meeting

Why You Should Care:

This is the opportunity members have to present ideas to the membership for consideration. Got a passion and want to get help from the League to make it reality? This is your chance.

About the 2008 Annual Dinner

For 2008, LWVGE's featured speaker is Robert Gardner, an Oak Park resident and "Locavore." A few years ago Robert, along with his wife and their two daughters, decided to try to eat and cook with as much locally grown food as they could. After three years it has become a lifestyle for his family - shopping at local farmers markets, patronizing restaurants that feature local food on menus, and stocking his freezer with fruits, vegetables and even half a cow! He is also a consultant who specializes in business research and author of the food blog

The Annual Meeting is required by League's bylaws and this is where members can come to vote for a new board and also plan what the League will/won't discuss in the coming months. Any League member can present ideas for the membership to consider at the Annual Dinner by sumbitting the idea in writing to the board approximately 2-3 months prior to the Annual Dinner Meeting. The Board will consider the idea and then publish it in the voter approximately 1 month prior to the Annual Meeting.

If the League Board rejects an idea, a member can always present an idea or nominate a board member from the floor of the Annual Meeting. If a majority of members present vote to consider the idea, the membership shall consider it. This is a good back door for procrastinators.

See You There!
