Why You Should Care:

Public boards spend public money. The public is entitled to watch how the board makes decisions that affect how the funds are raised and spent.

Board Observation

Board Observers are individuals (in this case, League members) who attend governmental meetings, note what happens at the meeting, and report back to the League and the community. By attending public meetings of local governmental bodies, observers learn more about what their government is doing. Ideally, observers are monitoring both the issues being discussed as well as the process by which they are being discussed. One priority is to ensure that the meeting is being conducted in an open and acceptable way.
