The League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn supports a four year term of office for Glen Ellyn Park District Commissioners. The role of the Commissioner is that of policy maker. The professional staff is there to handle day to day activities and implement policy. A four year term would make board members more responsive to the community. Constant updating of ideas and procedures necessitated by new board members helps to keep the board as a whole and the staff accountable to the community. Our community is very mobile. More people will be willing to make a four year commitment than a six year commitment. All other boards in Glen Ellyn and many state and national offices have four year terms. Four years is long enough for people to learn a job and be effective board members. Back to LWVGE Postions
