LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS OF GLEN ELLYN (LWVGE) PURPOSE:
The League's official purposes are:
- To establish positions on public policy through member participation and agreement.
- To take concerted actions that secure policies consistent with League positions.
- To enhance citizen participation in federal, state, and local government decisions.
- To increase citizen participation in the election process.
LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS OF GLEN ELLYN (LWVGE) POLICY:
NON-PARTISAN POLITICAL POLICY (Reviewed annually)
- The LWVGE Board of Directors shall use as a guide the chapter on non-partisan political policy from the In League handbook prepared by the League of Women Voters U.S. (LWVUS)
Specific guidelines for the LWVGE as determined by the Board of Directors are:
- The LWVGE is a non-partisan organization; it shall not support or oppose any political party or candidate.
- Those members of the Board of Directors holding the positions of President and of Voter Service Chairperson or any other publicly sensitive position shall not support candidates for a public elective office.
- A member of the Board of Directors may not be a candidate for a Party organization office or serve in such office.
- A member of the Board of Directors may not accept appointment to commissions, boards, or committees where service would be detrimental to the League program.
- A member of the Board of Directors may not use the name of the League in testifying as an individual.
- Any activity by a member of the Board of Directors, including candidacy for public office which might present a conflict of interest shall be reviewed by the Board of Directors.
- Final decision in each case shall be left to the judgment of the Board of Directors.
The non-partisan policy shall be reviewed usually by October first, and then presented to the membership.
NOTE: While the League encourages its members, with the exception of the President and Voter Service Chairperson, to work for the party or candidate of their choice, members must act as individuals and may not speak for nor give the impression that they are representing the League.
GUIDELINES FOR THE PARTICIPATION IN THE LOCAL NOMINATION PROCESS (Adopted June 10, 1982).
- The LWVGE may provide assistance for any group, political party, or caucus seeking to make a slate for any elected public office, providing there is no conflict with League's principles.
- The LWVGE should make it publicly known that individuals may run for local political offices as independents.
- The LWVGE may provide information and public forums as needed to uphold its non-partisan policy.
- The LWVGE encourages maximum citizen participation in any slate-making or election process.
- A clear and mutual understanding of all procedures shall be had by the LWVGE and that organization receiving League's assistance.
- An ongoing record of the LWVGE's involvement with the local nominations, slate-making and election process in the form of a list of directives, shall be developed and periodically reviewed and revised to help League in determining its future participation.
CONVENTION DELEGATES
National: Two delegates' registration, transportation (Including travel equalization charge, if any), room and board shall be paid by the LWVGE.
State: Registration shall be paid by the LWVGE for as many delegates as are accredited by the State League. The remaining money allocation in the budget for the Convention shall be divided among the delegates for room, board, and transportation.County: The registration for as many delegates as are accredited by the County League shall be paid by the LWVGE.

REFRESHMENTS
There is no obligation to serve food at any meeting.
MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY
The membership list of LWVGE shall not be given by any member to persons or organizations.
