Youth Voting Effort

Glen Ellyn League wants everyone to vote!

Learn about our outreach efforts to register and encourage the youth vote!

The pandemic changed how we had to approach the young voter. We knew we had to meet them where there were — and that was not always in school.

Lolla - Strategy

Since schools were closed for the pandemic, we found a way….Lollapalooza: Chicago’s premier 3-day concert festival. We created impactful bilingual cards with a QR code to register to vote and handed them out to concert-goers heading out on the trains into the city. The cards, and the free masks we handed out allowed us to engage with the students to talk about the importance of voting while they waited for their train. This is now a permanent outreach vehicle for our Voter Services team!

INSTA - Worthy photo frames

The other way we met young voter ‘where they are’ was creating unique voting-related photo frames so they could ‘picture’ themselves as the voter they would soon be!

Happy 18th Birthday POSTCARD!

High School Seniors reliably turn 18. This year, we provided a special 18th birthday postcard for the Social Studies/Gov’t teachers to mail to remind the newly 18 year-old to register to vote. The card also used QR codes to point them to county and state resources to learn more about their voting options.
